i’ve had the same (independent) therapist for around 8 months, but lately i’ve felt uncomfortable around her. i’ve been really wanting a proper asd diagnosis since i exhibit all the signs but she just doesn’t like giving diagnoses so she won’t. i’ve felt afraid to tell her things because of the way she responds and i don’t know what to do. should i try and switch to an insured therapist so i can be diagnosed? or are my problems with her all in my head?

Switch therapists. Without the right therapist that you can vibe with, you won't ever receive adequate help. The same thing happened to me. My first therapist worked mostly with children so she couldn't understand my problems. My second therapist was overworked and never remembered our previous sessions. So I say yes find a therapist you can be comfortable with
