Community Guidelines
Updated: March 1, 2022

Get to know what is and isn’t fair game on the Alike app.

We’ve built Alike as a safe and secure place for people to meet those who are medically similar to them and to seek better health outcomes.

We want Alike to continue being an authentic and safe place for sharing and support. Help this community thrive by respecting your Alikes - foster meaningful, genuine, empathetic interactions and avoid criticism.

1. Be Kind and Courteous.
Always remember that we all experience things differently from one another - be sensitive when providing advice to people on their health journey and often vulnerable times of need. We're all in this together to create a welcoming environment. Let's treat everyone with respect.

2. No Hate Speech, Bullying, or Harassment.
Make sure everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind isn't allowed, and degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity will not be tolerated. Be civil. We do not condone foul language. Let’s be mature and respectful. Insulting or bullying other Alikes will get you banned from the group without prior warning. Do not engage, or encourage others to engage in any targeted abuse or harassment against any other individual. Reports of stalking, threats, bullying, or intimidation, are taken very seriously.

3. Stay Relevant & Reliable
Remember that we are all here to discuss our medical realities. Refrain from starting irrelevant discussions and always offer up reliable information to your Alikes - their health management journey could be at stake.

4. No Suicide and self-injury advocacy.
Content that advocates for or glorifies suicide or self-harm is also not allowed. In these situations, we may take a number of steps to assist the user, including reaching out with crisis resources. Don't promote group collaboration to self-injure or commit suicide. Don't promote eating disorders, cutting, or other forms of self-injury. Don't share information or strategies that would assist in self-injury, cutting, eating disorders, or suicide.

5. Keep private Information discrete.
Don't publicly broadcast any private information, yours or anyone else's. In addition to not identifying a person, don't post or share their private information without authorization and permission. Don't post phone numbers, email addresses, social security numbers, or personal information that identifies someone.

6. No Promotions or Spam.
Give more than you take to this group. Self-promotion, spam and irrelevant links aren't allowed. Don’t use the group to advertise yours or someone else’s business. These posts will be immediately removed and you might get banned.

7. Report wisely.
Please report any off-limits content you see by just tapping the three dots at the top right or next to comments. However, don’t report posts or comments that aren’t breaking any rules just because you don’t like or agree with their content.

8. Talk to us.
If you have any questions or concerns or are experiencing issues in the app, please contact support - we’d love to help and are always looking to improve. Please feel free to contact us anytime via e-mail at hello@alike.health 💛
