What’s with doctors and not hearing me out bro? Like genuinely I get that they have to deal with tons of people each day and they hear the same things and prescribe the same things and say the same things cause most people fall into certain criteria.. but when I’ve been saying “I’m not depressed, it’s something else” since my freshman year of high school, but they’re STILL shoving “oh you must be depressed/anxious” down my throat?? Like insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. I get it. I’m not a doctor. I never claimed to be, but I can tell you what’s going on in my head to the best of my ability. I don’t always have the words for what I’m feeling, I can’t always pinpoint what triggers certain emotions or sensations, but I feel like as a doctor I’d try to hear out the patient if they’ve been searching for the answers for over 5 years and are insisting it isn’t something they know like the back of their hand. Where do you go to find the doctors that will actually hear you out or care about the answer?

Find a specialist in the area you think you have issues with.

Im dealing with something similar to this. I’m so tired of doctors. Like ya you have a degree but don’t you think I know what’s going on with MY body? The body I live in. The body I don’t like. The body I was born in. Like HELLO CAN YOU HEAR WHAT IM SAYING TO YOU?!?!? ARE WE SPEAKING THE SAME LANGUAGE?!?!? It’s ridiculous 😑

This is something pretty much everyone here can attest to. If you don't fit in a box they're lost. Keep trying different doctors if you are able. Take someone with you to the appointment. They can back up what you are saying, take notes and remember questions for you. Lastly, and most importantly, make them write in your chart that they denied care. It makes them stop and think about what they are saying if they can be held accountable later. Make them put in your chart that you've asked for x test or that you've already taken the depression tests and don't fit.

It can be frustrating when doctors don't seem to listen or understand your concerns. Some people have found success by changing doctors, seeking out specialists, or bringing someone with them to appointments to help advocate for their needs. It's important to continue advocating for yourself and searching for a healthcare professional who will genuinely listen and work with you to find the right diagnosis and treatment.
