How do you deal with doctors who are more interested in selling medicine than giving an accurate diagnosis?

Replace them. Took me two years to just find a primary I liked.

There was one doctor that was absolutely honest. Said we can all the medicine in the world. There's no absolute fix. Counseling and coping classes is the best solution.

Find another doctor. There are so many that genuinely want to help, even the ones that turn to medicine as the solution
Yeah I've been there. My first psychiatrist didn't do any evaluations for anything just gave me meds
All my life I've been misdiagnosed and overmedicated. I go from doctor to doctor, having a new diagnosis and new medication. To be honest I have no idea what I have. I just know, I have mental issues and I need help. And since I've moved I've taken myself off of all medication and just staying busy. So I stay out of my own head. It's becoming increasingly difficult to function properly when your hearing voices in my head. But I have alot of coping skills that's working in my favor. I just trying to hold off until I have insurance from the company I work for. And hopefully then being off of medication for more then 6 months I can get an accurate diagnosis.
@crash101 that sounds really difficult im sorry you’re dealing with that but i am glad you have a toolkit of healthy coping mechanisms
I went through this with a neurologist and psychiatrist in the past. That’s why my primary is an internist. She prescribes all my medicine. Eliminated the need for 3 doctors
I haven't faced that situation but I would 1 sometimes medicine is the answer 2 try expressing to them that these medicines haven't worked, why is the doc prescribing meds if there's no diagnosis 3 if u need a different doc then get a different doc. Whenever you find a good doctor it's an incredible experience
@pianolover314 problem is i just have super general diagnoses that are more treatment oriented like i have asked to be screened for ptsd but i have only been given formal anxiety and depression diagnoses
I have gone thru so many doctors that are all the same. It feels like there is a) no specialist in my area and b) the doctors that actually care are unaffordable/inaccessible
I have just gone to another doctor having this situation. Am beyond frustrated I'm not being heard or listened to
