I have relapsed on my addiction. I will do pretty much anything I can to find something that will force my body to sleep. I do this so I don't have to deal with past trauma. Any suggestions to help?

@Estrea this would also be my advice. Trazadone helps me sleep. Also, anything to reduce stress, eventually helps me to sleep naturally. It's a process sometimes, but anything you can do to release stress will help you sleep. I find that exercising helps soooo much. Also, find somewhere that you can go and just break stuff! To release any anger/frustration/anxiety, it helps ALOT!!

Try something non-controlled, like trazodone to help with the sleep. Avoid things like Ambien that can be abused. Also, I can't stress this enough, get into therapy to process your trauma as quickly as possible. Take the actual processing as slow as you need but start to address it. The longer trauma is covered up and buried the stronger it becomes and it feeds our addictions Over the last couple of years I have learned this the hardest way. So my advice would be don't be like me, don't put it off, stop numbing, and face your demons before they eat you alive

Im here with you in the same boat. I told my psychiatrist today. She’s adjusting my meds and told me something that stuck with me - it’s not all or nothing. Doing less of a bad thing is better than doing it more. Just because you’re not at the “not at all” place doesn’t mean you can’t still make progress by just trying to do it less. I hope that helps. I’m here to chat if you want 💕
i’m currrently in the same boat. I hate dealing with my actual feelings so I use substances to cover it up 😥
My god, this... I'm seven months clean from a relapse myself. Can I ask what your DOC is? Just so i have a clear idea on what I'm giving advice on, I'm a IV opiate user myself if your kind of skeptical about letting anyone in
@TheNon_Josh I am addicted to sedatives, any kind. I've been on oxycodone in the past, a prescription muscle relaxer, melatonin, and now I am using excessive amounts of Benadril to make me sleep.
