Has anyone ever had any good experiences going to a pain specialist for help? I got referred to one and he’s genuinely a terrible human being and an even worse Dr. I’m thinking about trying to go for a second opinion to hopefully get help for my chronic pain because it’s so severe I can barely walk some days. But honestly after my last experience I’m kinda terrified to even try and get help again because it was kinda traumatic if I’m being honest. Any advice or suggestions or encouragement is really appreciated ❤️

IMO, I would definitely try someone else. I had a pain specialist before I moved states, and she was super willing to find things that worked for me. We started with physical therapy massage a few times a week, but that put me in so much more pain. We were going to try other things, but COVID happened, and then I moved away. So, sadly, I never got to try anything else for relief. I have also been to some incredibly terrible doctors. The rheumatologist I was sent to was awful. She was rude, and didn't help me in the slightest. But my GP was incredible. I honestly think it's good to get a second option. Shoot, get multiple opinions if you can. You're going to find someone that genuinely cares and wants to help you. Hang in there ❤️

I haven’t had great experiences, but my grandfather has. He has trigeminal neuralgia (I might have spelled wrong) and one of the worst cases in the country. He has a pain pump that is affixed to his spine to administer his medicine and it gets filled every few weeks by a travel nurse. It really depends on your condition and the doctor. I hope you find help and relief.

It took me roughly 8 years to find a doctor that took my pain seriously. This new specialist is a dream come true. Do not give up and do not settle for someone you aren’t happy with. Good luck :)

I personally haven’t had a good experience but that doesn’t mean there aren’t better specialists who will listen! Don’t lose hope! I’m sorry you had to go through that and you’re not alone!
