New Pain Doctor Experience: Discouraged About Medication

I just met with a new pain doctor and it wasn’t great. Super rushed and not so professional but I have poor people insurance now since I’m not working. Anyway she is giving me tramadol and I think I tried it but it didn’t help much. What ya think? What’s your experience? I’m discouraged to be back on pain medication

It's one of the toughest dilemmas. I didn't want to go on addictive meds but after taking ibuprofen for over a year, my kidneys started to shut down and my doc told me that I had to stop. Chronic pain is a b**ch. It depends on where your pain is, as to other solutions than pain pills. If it is localized, there are numbing shots and other options. My pain is through my whole body, so nothing else worked. You can try lidocaine infusions. They help some people. I have been through hell because of pain medication and I settled for suboxone because it didn't get me high and I didn't get bad tolerance issues It is still a narcotic, though, so I do feel withdrawal without it. It is mostly some rebound body aches, worse fatigue, anxiety and depression If you aren't depressed you may not get worse when you stop. I wish you luck and am here if you want to reach out. Almost 20 yrs and no doc has been able to diagnose me except for " fibromyalgia". It isn't that but they don't want to deal with anything but blood tests. They give that diagnosis to people that have body pain, even if it isn't the same type as fibromyalgia. Hang in there😒

Tramadol never worked for me. Not strong enough for me.
