So I got Gastroparesis and a lot of serious damage to my stomach and esophagus from a botched Gastric Bypass surgery I had done in 2017. I was in the hospital for 8 months and 6 of those months in the ICU. It was litteral hell and I almost died twice. I went septic three times! I lost parts of my esophagus, 18 inches of my small intestines and the roux en Y part of my stomach. They disconnected my esophagus, and stomach for a whole year and fed me through a j-tube. After the year I had reconnection surgery where they reconnected my esophagus and stomach so I could eat normally but now I have nerve damage to parts of my stomach. it takes me 36 hours to move a meal through my stomach into the small intestines. They say it isn't fixable and there isn't medicine for it, it's just something I now have to deal with. So I eat one small meal a day which is usually dinner around 4pm and that's it. It also sometimes takes me a week to have a bowel movement. I forgot to mention when the Gastic bypass failed I had to go into emergency surgery where they opened up entire abdomen on the table and I now have a basketball sized hernia skin graft covering my stomach. I look like a pregnant man. I also developed a stage 4 decubitus ulcer (bed sore) on my lower back from my 3 week coma I was in that still hasn't fully healed. it's been almost 6 years now. from that they removed my coccyx (tail bone) and half of my sacrum and that gave me severe nerve damage in both of my legs and paralyzed my left leg and put me in a wheelchair. Do not get a Gastric Bypass. If you are overweight there are safer ways to lose weight. I'm on medication now that I have lost close to 85 lbs in the last year. I wish I could have been on this medication 6 years ago.
