My Medical Journey: Battling GERD, IBS, and T1D

I just wanted to share what I’ve gone through the past few weeks — I made a previous post that I deleted (because I am now making this one.) my medical history is extensive. this post is specifically about GERD, IBS, ETC — and even T1D. two weeks ago on sunday, after not eating for four days, the nausea hit me like a freight train. I was vomiting up bile and acid and my stomach was having spasms. I can’t even describe to you how painful and uncomfortable this is — anyways, three ER visits later, I was admitted to the hospital, where they did x rays, a cleanse through an NG tube (I couldn’t/can’t keep anything down, even water) which was ten hours of vomiting and crying. traumatic event. they then sent me home. I went on vacation to maine afterwards, I seemed okay. I did the regimen that the hospital suggested and I thought that since I could eat, I was okay. boy, was I wrong. about a day after we got home, I woke up to the same problem. it was immediate and I was becoming depressed, I’m still fighting that now as I heal. more ER visits, I got admitted again. they found good IV medications for me and I was able to keep some pasta down today. the teams and all the doctors here are going to figure out what’s causing this — my chronic constipation, is it gastroparesis? and ETC. so, I wait. thank you all for reading. this battle has been hard but I’m trying my best. I hope my stories can help people see they aren’t alone in situations like this, where it takes so much effort to be seen, and heard. you’ll be okay, we both will ❤️

I'm going through this as well. I just had a stomach scope and they could not do the colonoscopy I wasn't cleaned out. They did a biopsy on inflammation waiting for the results. I called and told her the pain in upper right abdomen is getting worse along with nausea and all other symptoms she gave me pepcid to take 2 times a day. I have Already been prescribed and taking this med for almost a year now to cont. To take Zofran it almost feels like a constant Charlie horse under my rib. Do you or anyone else have pain there.

actually yeah, I do have chronic under the rib pain. That's where liver and gallbladder is. Apparently my gallbladder is my internal hackey sack. Omg it can hurt same days.

I do have POTS, they believe it mighy be gastroparesis from T1D or EDS right now. my IST (under the POTS umbrella) is doing well right now. we will see

I am in a similar boat. I think I have gastroparesis, my mom thinks it’s my mast cell stuff and the GI who gaslit me and doesn’t believe that I have EDS ect. thinks it’s just another ulcer. He wanted me to take more pepcid than I was. I did it for two days and felt so awful I haven’t taken any since. I wish you the best. Feel free to dm if you want to commiserate.

I am so tired of being depressed.. I have to plan my days around my IBS. Sometimes diarrhea sometimes constipation. actually sometimes I think the constipation is better until the pain comes

First of all don’t let anyone tell you it’s anxiety, because it’s not. Also don’t be afraid of getting a second opinion

When any of us advocates for ourselves it is cause to 🎉 celebrate because often there is no one to advocate for us.

UPDATE; they did an endocolonoscopy and found nothing. they say it’s my IBS but I feel like there’s something more. we’ll be going to a specialist soon for it. hopefully something, ANYTHING, can stop this. I know everything and everybody here will be okay ❤️
