I channel that energy into a thought that's less?? Like if I'm having a self destructive thought,like a not so good thought of filling up the bathtub and then using it to make myself do the not breathe and live then I'm like nope let's change that into something else something that's still "destructive" in a way but won't hurt me,like instead of that i'll chop off all my hair or something Just so I have a less harmful thought weighing in my head but if I do it on impulse it won't harm me in anyway-

I message my best friend. I tell her what's going on in my head. She comes to me in a jiffy or I go to her if I have gad. We hang out for a few hours and after a while I'm feeling better. She's always there for me and helps me. ❤️ Hope you find what works best. If you need an understanding ear, im here for you.

I wear hair ties or an actual rubber band around my wrist at all times. I also will play music and tune out the world. Watch your favorite show, or find a simple work out you can do at home and do that until you forget the negative thought that was keeping you down ❤️

i normally go out for a walk to the shop near the bottom of my road for a drink with my headphones i’m not listening to sad music then i come home and watch a show i’m fixated on at the moment in time
I sometimes have to have multiple things at the same time. I often have Netflix on my laptop with subtitles, music in earphones and also doing something else drawing or playing a game on my phone. (I know this can become quite overwhelming with so much at the same time, I think it’s my ADHD brain that needs so much, but sometimes it takes all of those at once to be able to take my focus off of those thoughts)
@StarryAstronaut I get that this isn’t for everyone, but sometimes it’s about trying different things to find out what works. That’s how I found that it takes me doing multiple other things at once to be able to try to ignore the thoughts.
drawing (vent art has helped me a lot), watching my favorite shows (my current special interest is The Clone Wars), making myself a fancy drink
The Walking Dead, I watch my comfort shows, and I hang out with my momma, I also have a weighed blanket I hide under

@JuniperJayde Thanks
I get myself interested in crime stories lol. I try to solve them myself. Makes me feel powerful. But I also watch movies even if I've already watched them. Music also always helps me
