Okay what does everyone do to help them stay asleep? I take melatonin and have a white noise machine but I have never been able to sleep through the night. Constantly wake up 8-10+ times at night and my doctor only said to try melatonin which does not do the trick. I know a lot of ppl suggest sleep studies with our chronic illnesses but for now I’m just looking for suggestions on anything that could help in the meantime. Thanks!

I take meds. Literally that's the only thing that helps. I used to take doxepin but I can't take it anymore for an unrelated reason. Liquid doxepin worked the best for me because I chose my own dose. Up to 2ml a night so I didn't have to do the whole 2. Currently I take a control called Quviviq but I also take medication for another unrelated condition called Gabapentin that helps me sleep

I’m on gabapentin but the thing I’ve noticed that really knocks me out is magnesium citrate. I take 1200mg at bed time and I sleep through the night. It also helps with constipation if that’s an issue for you at all but if it’s not an issue that’s something to be aware of if you decide to try it.

Some things to try, may not completely fix the issue. Try a new pillow such as a foam or cooling or a more firm etc. Try rotating your mattress or maybe it's time for a new one. Also, try to not be on electronics before bed. Not sure if it'll help you, but it has helped me.

My doctor has me on Trazodone to help me sleep. I can't use a white noise machine, it doesn't distract my brain enough. I have my TV in the other room on with something soothing and boring. That helps my brain focus on something other than my thoughts. Honestly those are the only thing that help me. My sleep quality still isn't awesome but I do feel like I get better sleep now.

@Red914 I’m also on trazodone, originally prescribed for my anxiety and it helps me sleep for sure! I also take my LDN at night because my doctor said if I took it during the day it might make me feel down

Some suggestions to help stay asleep include practicing strict sleep hygiene, using a weighted blanket, trying anxiety medication or CBD, engaging in CBT therapy, and drinking herbal teas like valerian tea before bed. Additionally, avoid falling asleep to music or TV and use white noise as an alternative, as these can keep your brain stimulated and cause you to wake up throughout the night.
