Struggling to find the right insomnia drug

Wondering about other peoples experiences with insomnia drugs as a solution. At first my doctor prescribed trazodone, but it caused my sinuses to seize up, so I couldn’t breathe, so I couldn’t sleep. Then I tried amitriptyline; which did zero for my sleep, but improved my mood, so I stayed on it. Then I tried ambien, which didn’t help my sleep, I still woke up multiple times, and I was angry the next day. Now I’m trying doxepin, and so far, not much improvement in staying asleep all night. Has anyone else had so much trouble finding the “right” drug or am I just hopeless.

Pot is all that works for me after trying a slew of meds. Some knock me out but leave me drowsy, but mainly others didn't work at all

Have you tried cannabis?

I’m on prazosin and seroquil for sleep and that’s been my miracle mix. I tried a couple different options before this that didn’t work out to well. Prazosin helps treat high blood pressure too so it’s helped my nightmares in my sleep. I’ve been able to sleep through the night, waking up maybe once during the night but being able to go right back to sleep with no issues

That sounds like the dream. Gives me hope that something will work for me too.

Yes it’s been awful. Tried melatonin, would eventually fall asleep after staring at the ceiling for a few house but didn’t do anything helping me get to sleep I’d still wake up multiple times. Tried Trazodone it did nothing was literally still awake all night. Ambien worked the first night but caused me really weird dreams And I was hitting my husband in my sleep. It stopped working too so I don’t know what the next step is

Yeah, it definitely was and still is a struggle for me. I've recently been trying new meds to help and it's been a bit of a shitshow so far. There's already a few we know don't work well for me. Sometimes it's melatonin and cannabis and hope for the best.
