I had long wavy hair till I went chronic for over 4yrs and it just got too heavy and messy to handle on back to back rough days. It's really time consuming to have hair when you barely have enough spoons to get up and care for yourself let alone present yourself to others. Loose braids were my go to for a while but now I do my own buzz cuts pixie or military style and wear fun wigs on good days when I want to play with hair. Even keeping mine a few inches got tedious because my hair is wavy in an annoying fashion. Plus massaging your head during a migraine is so much easier with short hair. I will forever miss my mermaid hair and will constantly get phantom ponytail but being able to rub my head freely without messing my hairdo or having to wash my hair because I vomited and didn't get it all out of the way in time. It's the worst when it's that little short section of hairs around your face and if you don't realize and you get that whiff later on... 🫣 Otherwise loose braids starting at the base of your skull/neck so you have the least amount of hair pulling around any tenderness of your scalp. If you have shorter hair you need to keep out of your face try wearing a soft bandana that's tied just a bit loose so it may slowly fall but can be readjusted without discomfort compared to compression bands that can feel tight & painful after some time. Comfy hats can be a great hairstyle replacement during migraine as well no matter your hair length! Great for light sensitivity too; I'm especially a sucker for bucket hats.

I had to chop mine off due to the added stress of the weight of my long curly hair. It has changed my life.

@J_Stokes Same. I kept it slightly long enough to still pull it back or put a bun on the top of my head, but the weight still starts to bother my neck and back after a while. Dividing the hair and having two braids or ponytails, spreading out the weight, and keeping them low hanging helped a little until I decided on a short haircut.

I tend to wear my hair in a low ponytail
