Struggling with Hair Care due to Autism

hi does anyone else with Autism struggle with their hair and washing it? I can't stand having oily hair and because of this I keep it in a ponytail every day and wash it every day. Recently I have started bleaching and dying parts of my hair and I'm worried of damaging my hair from washing it constantly but I don't know what to do. Do you guys have any suggestions? I have also cut my hair to where it's almost too short to put in a ponytail to try to get myself used to it down and not get disgusted

Can you help? connect today

I used to religiously wear my hair in a ponytail for the same reason, when I first started dying my hair I just bought hair products that help preserve the pigments of the dye, also it took me like 3 years to finally get used to my hair being down

im the same way with oily hair and oil in general so i’m constantly showering, but putting my hair in ponytails gives me horrible headaches, so i use a claw clip and do a low twist. claw clips will definitely keep your hair from breaking more than hair elastics cause you’re not putting so much strain on the hair

I literally shaved my head bc of the sensory issues I had with sweaty hair. Buzz buzz

I cut my hair super short when I was 16 because having longer hair makes me feel crazy, esp in that awful in-between stage where it's in your face and touching your skin all the time but it's too short to do anything with so you can't put it up. I also cut my hair because I was keeping it up all the time and I knew I was just damaging my hair anyway, so. big chop time
