Hey guys, I have to take psych meds everyday at night and they do help me but I get angry and agitated when I have to take them. I have been forced to take meds in the past so just the thought of meds upset me. Sometimes I feel like I don’t need them and sometimes I feel like my doctor is using me as a lab rat. Any tips or ideas on how to address this? Feedback much appreciated!

Make sure the medication you’re taking is on all of your own terms!! I’ve had a psychiatrist over prescribe me with a bunch of meds and it made me really uncomfortable and I never wanted to take them. Once I figured out where my comfort level is with taking medication, and I was in control of the decision making on what I was taking and not taking, it became a lot easier. And now I take them because I want to!!

create a comfort routine before or while you take your meds like watch your favorite show or eat your fav food so you associate your meds with a happy thing
I’ve had that happen in the past and what I’ve done is asked if there was a similiar medication that I could take or if there is a medication you could take before the rest of your medication to help you relax and not get so angry
