Context: I don’t have a diagnosis. I’m 21, straight of of graduating with my bachelors and living with my parents. We have financial troubles. I’ve had lupus, endometriosis, and other symptoms since I was a kid but doctors seem to dismiss me a lot. I got a job at a summer camp for 3 months where I’d be teaching art. I was excited and packed meticulously. Once I got up there the next day I woke up stiff and swollen. I would come to have my fingers, wrists and especially my ankles swell up 2x the size. My lymph nodes swell up, I’d get a headache every time I walked outside (which I expected in the sun anyway), my lip swell up 2x the size with cold sores and my whole chin area hurt extremely bad. I got stomach problems, nausea, and chronic pain flair ups. My house is normally around 780 ft elevation, though I lived for a year in 350 ft recently, this place was 3,000 ft elevation. 3 questions: 1. Has elevation ever effected any of you? The night I came home I woke up to my joints feeling better and by the second night they were back to normal. My teeth hurt when I got back oddly and took a few days to get better. 2. What do I do? I want to look for answers. I need diagnosis for people to take my seriously. Is it a thing to get short term disability to find out what’s wrong with me? 3. My dad said some hurtful things, that I didn’t prepare enough for camp. That I should’ve gone outside and exercised. I need to start sucking it up and pushing through things. As if I didn’t wait until my the 5th day of pain to voice my health concerns to my boss…. Advice is needed. I need emotional support and solid advice on how to get through this. I have dreams. I want to go to graduate school. I don’t want my health to screw up my life more than it already has.

I used to get motion sickness when I was a child and sometimes experience elevation issues. I wasn't diagnosed with Lupus until I was thirty-nine years old. I have had a full life, so far and looking forward to experience more memorable and fulfilling moments and you will, too. If you need someone to talk to, you can chat with me. 1. Elevation can affect some individuals, causing symptoms like swelling, headaches, and joint pain due to changes in air pressure and oxygen levels. 2. To seek answers, consider finding a new doctor or specialist who will listen to your concerns and run appropriate tests. You may also explore the possibility of short-term disability while you work on getting a diagnosis. 3. It's essential to have emotional support during this time. Reach out to friends, family, or support groups who understand your situation. Remember that it's crucial to prioritize your health and well-being as you pursue your dreams and goals.
