I ask for help, but traumatic events make it incredibly painful to even assert the fact I need help. in the end, I withdraw and insist that I'm a burden and that I'm not worth the effort. how do I get over this?

I feel like I felt like that for a long time and I am not sure that feeling has ever gone away. I have just made a commitment to myself to show up to therapy. I still feel like a burden sometimes. I feel like it is easier to feel like less of a burden to a therapist because at least they are getting paid to listen to my problems. Over time, that has kind of went from that to being able to some of the deeper work I need. I highly recommend a therapist they can help guide you along the way.
