(TW: SA) I was abused by my ex a few years ago, and it gave me PTSD. I tried meeting up with a new guy last night, and I was SA'd. I feel horrible. I don't want to do anything, I feel drained. And I keep getting flashbacks to my ex on top of it. Any tips for now I can cope? How do I tell my friend for support?

I agree express just like you did here. I know it's more difficult in person. But if people you talk to doesn't believe you or care about what you say. They do not belong in your circle. They are not true friends. But it's unfortunate that you are facing this obstacle in life. And PTSD is something that some people don't really understand. And when things like this happen it take a while to be able to feel just a little comfortable with talking about it. But you woe yourself some credit because you still have it a shot. So I'm proud of you.

I was SA'd a few nights ago and have PTSD from a past similar experience. Talking about it is really hard but for me telling my friend or someone close made me feel really supported and remembering that it is not my fault

Writing in a journal may help you get your thoughts out. Try grounding techniques (search it in images online), therapy can help, medications, most importantly praying to God and asking God to take away the PTSD and trauma. Prayers! God is with you always!

share this with your friend the same way you shared it here. if they don’t believe you or they give you a stupid response, distance yourself from them. remember that this isn’t a pattern. these are just two very unfortunate circumstances that happened to you. everything will be okay

Based on the experiences shared by others, therapy, medication, and support groups can be helpful in dealing with trauma. Techniques like EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) have been mentioned as beneficial. As for telling a friend, it's important to choose someone you trust and feel comfortable with. You could start by saying that something happened to you and you need their support. Remember, it's okay to ask for help and take care of yourself.
