I work at a large trauma center. I have ptsd from over 12 years of working there. Recently a toddler came in and we couldn’t save his life. And I can’t stop seeing these images in my head. I can’t sleep sometimes. I hear screams while I sleep and it wakes me up. I think about the brutal way he died every day and IT WONT STOP.

Please seek psychological help if you dont already. Many nurses seek mental health care when they are exposed to this part of the medical field. You are not alone. And you have been doing this for 12 years. No reasonable human being would disagree with or look down on you for changing medical departments. There's more for you out there, other than the trauma center.

Hey, sounds awful. It is not easy to work in such large trauma centers and see everything you describe. I think you might want to talk to a professional about it. Maybe a psychologist will be able to give you methods to deal with the situation and above all you will be able to vent what you feel. I know mine helped a lot.
