Okay so I need some help because I'm puzzled. Bandaids are supposed to make your skin white and super wet and overly hydrated. Maceration is what it's called. I have psoriasis and it's currently flaring and I was graced with a giant spot on my left pointer finger. I've been keeping it covered because letting it air out I think caused a type of eczema. I kept getting itchy cists all over my finger if I left it uncovered. But it's been like this for about two months now. All bandaids are doing is drying my finger out /more/ and making my psoriasis spread. I've been lathering my bandaids with salves and hydrocortisone and hydrating balms and nothing seems to be working. Like it'll get to the point where the dry nasty crusty layer of skin has finally peeled off and I cover it for another day just to get it to stop oozing (because if you know anything about psoriasis you know that it oozes. It's so much fun 🥴). And then I go to change the bandaid and I'm right back to square one. But it's worse. So it's more like square negative one. I literally have a giant red cracking square on my finger now because it spreads to wherever the pad of the bandaid is no matter how much stuff I put on it to try and stop it. And this time my entire finger dried out. My normally super healthy cuticle is cracking and peeling away from my nail, and my whole finger was white not from maceration, but from how dry it was. And it will. Not. Stop. Itching. I put a hefty amount of some dry skin salve I bought last year mixed with a hefty amount of hydrocortisone cream and it doesn't feel like it's doing anything. Bandaids aren't supposed to dry your skin out so idk why this is happening and I really need some suggestions because I'm at a loss on what to do anymore 😭 And before anyone says anything about a dermatologist. I know and I really need to get some steroid cream to see if I can get this taken care of but I have nowhere to go without a referral. I know I would be able to get some because my psoriasis is COVERING my legs, breasts, and forearms. But the urgent cares nearby have awful reviews so I don't want to risk that. There's the little clinic in the nearby Meijer but I have no idea if they do skin stuff or not. As far as other places, I don't have the gas money to go to another town to try and go somewhere else. I live in rural Michigan so the nearest town with a hospital I think is at least 45 minutes away and I just don't have the money for that much gas. Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏 idk what to do anymore.

Don't go to urgent care for Psoriatis unless it's so painful that you can't function. My advice is see a dermatologist, If you have joint pain, I'm advising that you should see an rheumatologist. Take care.

@ForeverFatiguedCat I wish I could but I have no way to see either of them. I need a referral.
