I can't stop picking at my skin and my family notices it and my friends think it's weird and that my hands and arms are "zombie" arms because I scratch and pick until I bleed. I don't even realize I do it most of the time but it's really bad right now. my arms and hands are scarred for life as well as anywhere else. Recently I started scratching at normal skin until it was raw and I can't stop. I don't know what to do and I hate having to always search for any scabs before I can go to bed at night

I’m right there with you. I’m so sorry you’re going through this, too. You’re not crazy. It’s not your fault. If you could “just stop” it, you would have. If you’re stuck in picking cycles a lot right now, it wouldn’t hurt to find one or two antibacterial / soothing things (like a natural lotion) that you can put on your skin after. When I get out of control and scared, it really helps me emotionally (and probably physically) to do something soothing after. Also! I swear by large hydrocolloid bandages when things get bad. They can stay on until they fall off, they advance healing, and they cover a good amount of skin. Sometimes I’ll put some on over a certain part of my body that I can’t stop picking to give it a break. I hope this helps a little bit ❤️
