How to move past trauma?

Making sure you’re with the right therapist can make all the difference. I never knew that trauma therapy was a totally different approach than regular therapy. It focuses on getting you into a stable place, not really focusing as much on the trauma you experienced at the beginning. Really just making you feel stable enough to deal with it. Then once you’re at the right point in medication/therapy, they will move on to dig into some of that traumatic stuff you’re dealing with. The process takes a while to get from one step to the next. I’m still at the beginning and it’s been a. Few months. But all my other therapists have just dug right into the trauma right away. Now I’ve learned since then that that can cause way more issues than benefit. Definitely find a therapist who specializes in trauma.

I find that really sitting with your feelings and allowing yourself to fully accept and feel them can help. If you have someone to talk to like a counselor that you trust it can be really helpful as well. Moving the body can be great because a lot of trauma gets stuck in the physical body. Basically old energy needs to be freed emotionally and physically. Hope this helps some.
