so I have lately had more of a meltdown with my mental health symptoms, and have been struggling every single day to stay positive, and keep doing what's best for my health, going on walks, drinking water, eating healthy, all while still trying to manage all the anxious thoughts. I told one of my friends about my situation, and they always send me inspirational quotes, and they seem so supportive, but today they asked me if I had anything holding me back, habits or anything weighing me down. it was a tough question. but anyway, after talking, I told him I have a chemical imbalance, and I need medication to stay stable. He then says that anyone can push through depression without meds, and it's not an imbalance, just a lack of purpose.... ? it made me feel, like, I agree with him, but he stopped replying. Is he really my friend ?

I am so sorry. I've had to deal with those types of 'Friends' before too. No one who has never dealt with clinical depression, bipolar, anxiety etc understands 0 of what it's like to live with it

@shady89 yes I definitely see what you mean and I agree! It's difficult to deal with mental health by yourself every day, and I can't really talk to my family or friends about it because they are busy, don't have time for it... Or may not understand it the same way. Thankfully I am starting counseling tomorrow! 🌻🙏

Everyone has a different perspective based on their own experiences. Sounds like this person has not been down the same road as you.

@YesImAMess yes, that's a real possibility. I feel kind of embarrassed for opening up to my friend about it, as we used to talk almost every day. Then i told him that I do need medication, and haven't been able to deal with it naturally. He seemed to disagree with that in a way... Which is why I made this account finally 🙂
