I've learned to accept the highs and lows as a part of my life and to always remember that it is temporary. I've never been in a high or low and stayed there. It always resolves itself. In the mean time, I accept that I am where I am with my mood and ride it out with the knowledge that this too shall pass. Did you know that you and I have survived 100% of the hardest days of our lives and we're still here? An artist I listen to named Ren said that it's like a pendulum, eternally swaying from dark to light, and the more intense the light shines, the darker the shadow it casts. It's not a battle to be won, it's an eternal dance. Just go with the flow of the dance. Everything will be all right in the end, and if it's not all right, then it's not the end. I wish you the best.šŸ™‚

I found that acceptance of how you feel helps a lot. For instance, I used to beat myself up for being so depressed that all I could do was hide and watch Netflix shows for days. Now, I say, you know, I'm not feeling so good. I think I just need to lay low and watch some Netflix for a few days until my mood allows for more activities. It really shortens the dip in my mood from 3 weeks to 3 to 5 days. When I'm in a high mood, all I want to do is spend money and do a bunch of projects. So, I'll allow myself to go to the dollar store or Walmart and spend $20 in cheap supplies, go home and bust out the hot glue guns, and go to town making decorated spice jars and soap dispensers (or whatever you're into). It helps so much to embrace how you are feeling in a manageable and healthy way instead of being riddled by guilt, self-hatred, and feeling like a victim instead of a survivor.

Some people find that practicing self-care, going for walks in nature, and finding time for enjoyable activities can help manage mood swings. Others suggest staying grounded and remembering that lows are temporary. Distractions such as hobbies that require higher brain functions like puzzles, or simple activities like playing with a pet or taking a warm bath, can also be beneficial. Journaling to track mood patterns and becoming more self-aware of your moods can also be helpful.
