feeling sad today. my exes mother messaged me and it brought up a lot of nostalgia for me and my old relationship. usually I wouldn't respond but she's one of the sweetest ladies I've ever met, and her health isn't doing so well. sometimes I just wish we could have worked things out. I feel like I wasted most of my 20s with someone who just threw me away like garbage. I guess it was inevitable though as I was severely depressed the last year we were together and couldn't be the girlfriend he needed. sigh.

don’t blame yourself! i know it’s difficult, but a truly loving partner wouldn’t give up on you because of your mental health struggles. relationships are full of ups and downs and it’s not always easy, but giving up isn’t suppose to be an option if you really want it to work. it sounds like you were together for a long time and I know that hurts feeling like you wasted time, but just know that although it didn’t work out, I’m sure you learned a lot about yourself as a partner, things you want to work on, and what you need in a significant other also. healing is a long process but doing your best to not give into negative, self-deprecating thoughts will go a long way <3 be kind and patient with yourself as much as you can.
