Living in a family where we each have a lot of disabilities I am trying to do a good job of spending time with my family and spending time on myself. Does anyone have any GOOD advice about that?

Healthy boundaries.. it is hard to do to loved ones but sometimes you need to for your own good.

@goatintraining right I am currently working on good decision making, boundaries, and self care.
Thank you for all your advice. I find I get a lot of what I already know or already do from this site but they are nice suggestions anyways. Thank you
yes I love walks. I go for a walk every other day. Healthy and destressing

Oh and going for walks, tell them you're looking for morals, might never find them, but hey, there goes the walk exercise lol I have yet to find an edible mushroom on this continent lol who knew..
Start introducing your family to new things, without telling them why though. New foods, new activities. A bit by bit. Over some time they won't even know it but their taste buds will change for something healthier, trust me. They'll start getting that head and body rush that they'll be looking for more. Just don't tell them it's 'healthier', never mention that part or anything about the diabetes issue! Just kinda, luer them all into the lifestyle of no diabetes, luer them into your healthy lifestyle as you can bit by bit. Introducing new foods definitely helps. Be like hey! I got this, wanna try some? Or hey,, I heard my friend talking bout this,, I wanna try some, and then offer them to try it. And then if they like it,throw in there, it tastes sooo much better than "blah" I hate how that grease was just floating out on that burger, made the buns all saugy (my personal response actually lol), and this one I can actually eat without it spilling everywhere! Haha I hate that! And when done eating, be like damn I don't feel so gassy anymore, and I'm full, AND it's so much cheaper! (Unless it's not lol then start cooking at home) Lol I'm just throwing ideas out there. Totally works on me and my bf starting eating healthier lol Hope this helps
@Mashka I always cook healthy meals. But I do want more variation. Can you message me some recipes. I had to have my gallbladder out so I can't digest greasy foods and I don't eat out much. I cook a lot
What do you mean paperwork and meds? Related to his disabilities? Can his dad to some of it? Be sure to take time for you every day. Most need that 5-10 min meditation or such to feel better and deal with those around us. I use essential oils to help with relaxation, calm and such.
@katzgoddessa because both my husband and his son have learning disabilities they can't read very well and I have to fill out all of their applications and paperwork for things and neither of them know how to put their meds into a weekly I have to do all that stuff for them. My husband has brain damage and my son has like a mind of a child
My husband and stepson are good helpers and we all share the chores around the house. And I enjoy helping them. I'm helping my Step-son to learn how to live on his own with cooking and money management. What I have problems with are all the things I have to do for him because he can't do them and I have to do them whether I want to or not like paperwork and meds etc.
I like spending time with my family I also like working on myself too. My family can be demanding and need my help a lot. I like working on my hobbies too and doing stuff for myself that makes me feel good and makes my life better. I also like helping others I love to reach their goals. I have been using boundaries to get both done and time management skills
With PTSD it depends on the circumstances.. I wouldn't recommend trying to work on outside problems first. Work on yourself then try to slowly work your way on outside priblems.
@Quinnzel thank you. I realized I needed to work on myself more to get more stable and help myself first then I can help other people when I'm at a good place.
