there are some DBT methods i've tried picking up, i recommend turning to a worksheet when you feel it all bubbling up. the one i use the most is distracting myself, though, and stepping back from the stressor when i can. if i can't, i try to think intensely and analytically about it. i dissect what exactly is upsetting me or overwhelming me, and i let myself feel my emotions all the way through instead of reacting

Some coping strategies for intense emotions include grounding techniques, such as identifying 5 things you can see, 4 things you can hear, 3 things you can feel, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste. Other suggestions include deep breathing exercises, meditation, journaling, venting to someone you trust, engaging in hobbies or art therapy, and practicing DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) skills like the STOP skill and TIP skill.
