My consultant is trying to dissuade me from having a laparoscopy to determine if I have endometriosis. she told me the pain is constipation. she put me on desogestrel and told to call back in 6 months if I still want a laparoscopy. I have been suffering with pain and constipation since starting the med and it has not stopped my bleeding. I have bled every single day this year š

I would definitely see another doctor. I was told the same thing for over 10 years by over a dozen doctors and last year I found out I had endo everywhere. Not saying you definitely have it but if you have severe period pain I would definitely see someone else.

Some doctors say that because it can have some similar pain/issues and a lot of insurances make them say they tried XYZ before tossing you into a procedure. However if that's not the case and you're still having issues and they deny it I'd definitely get another opinion. Also when you get the test done for constipation try to empty out as much as you can beforehand because I've had instances where they saw a little bit of poop and labeled it constipation and it wasn't. Good luck to you! ā¤ļøā¤ļø

100% agree with everyone saying to try another doctor. For me, a naturopath has been the one who actually listens to me and doesn't write off my pain as other causes
Itās important to remember that you can have more than one pain generator! I had so many, and have been on a journey solving each one. Just because thereās pain from constipation doesnāt mean there isnāt always lap pain with endo! I agrĆ©e with everyone else that seeing a different doctor may be beneficial, maybe someone who specializes in pelvic pain beyond just gyn, in addition to an excision specialist! I needed a lot of people of different specialties on my team.

I agree you need to find someone who will provide the investigation you are seeking!
I would consider trying a different doctor. You have to advocate for yourself.
@Raquel226 I've thought about this but didn't know if it was something anyone else had experienced?

One user mentioned that they experienced constant heaviness and pressure in the lower abdomen, which was not common pelvic pain with periods. They also mentioned that they had endometriosis and underwent two surgeries (post_id: 8AE89D86-31B5-4FE0-AF62-A0B02D9E4B45). However, it's essential to consult with your healthcare provider for personalized advice and recommendations based on your specific symptoms and medical history.
