New Gynecologist Thinks I Have Endometriosis - Should I Get a Second Opinion?

Hello! I went to a new gynecologist today because I moved back home and she said she thinks I have endometriosis. I have a history of recurring pelvic inflammatory disease caused by intestinal bacteria trapped in my reproductive area and had my right fallopian tube and ovary removed in 2021. I’ve had chronic pelvic pain since 2019 started by that. After the removal of the tube and ovary my pain went away but it is starting to come back. My previous doctor said she did not see any endometriosis during my past two surgeries, but this new doctor said that it sometimes isn’t visible. Is this true or should I look for a second opinion?

Sometimes it’s not seen depending on the surgeon!!! If they aren’t an endo expert it can totally be missed, especially when they aren’t looking for it! I even had an non expert looking for it and miss a whole bunch! Get an opinion from an expert. I have sooo many resources and a lot of info about endo, feel free to message me if you’d like me to share! I don’t want to overwhelm you :) we are here for you!!!

It’s worth looking into. Find a specialist if you can! I was officially diagnosed with endo via a lap but my new gyno found a polycystic ovary and believes I have PCOS☹️ I’m going to look for a specialist now because endo and chronic pain is one thing but PCOS too?! I wish you luck my friend.
