I'm confident I have hand dermatitis and I would really like some advice. :/ Basically, over the last 4-5 months, the backs of my hands have been getting increasingly more dry and now it's to the point where the skin feels scaly and itchy, and there are tiny sore lumps beginning to form in various spots on my fingers and the backs of my hands. I'm confident it's this because the pictures I looked at are spot on. There have been things like this in the past, but only mildly dry skin and one or two sore lumps that would go away after a short amount of time. There have been no changes in my routine (soap, clothing type, detergent, etc). I wasn't sure what tag(s) to use for this so please tell me if these are wrong. I can't currently see a doctor about this, but I really don't want it to keep getting worse, so can people please give me advice on what I can do at home? Products (preferably on the cheaper side), home remedies, etc. Thank you to anyone that reads this!

I'm not sure if this is the same, but my granddaughter gets severe dry skin, especially during the summer. She is also sensitive to soap/detergent/fragrance changes. We have used several things to help. Aquaphor healing ointment or amlactin cream at night (amlactin works best, but is expensive and hard to find since covid), hydrocortisone creams to help with any itching and soothe the burning sensation, and a really good moisturizing lotion daily (this is a little expensive, but definitely worth it. She uses Eucerin roughness relief). I hope this helps and that you find relief for your hands.

Hey! I’ve had dermatitis pretty much my whole life since I was a baby. I first got it on my hands sounding very similar to what you’ve described when i was 8. It was after trying to make something with detergent and despite this detergent being used fine in my clothes, it bought up severe dermatitis when i touched it directly - since then I can’t even wash my clothes with any detergent that has a certain allergen. You should also check if soap ingredients or anything has changed, because after a few flares, i found out my usual safe soap had actually new fragrances. A common trigger is any chemical that ends with iazolinone- hope this helps and feel free to message me about it! :)
