Anybody have a hard of time fighting pharmacies to fill or keep your prescription? I'm not new and dose hasn't changed! I've been there for 4 yrs. But normally have to wait a week until they reorder etc.

I don't know if you remember this, but a while back, a very "importanr& powerful" woman's son overdosed on heroin( she made it to public radio, so she had serious connections) She %100 blamed the doctors for giving inf her sn 2 weeks worth of ,I think, it was oxycontin. He chose to start shooting dope after he ran out of pain pills. Her son was an angel and completely without any responsibility for his choice Never once in the 30 minute interview did she ever have him take one iota of responsibility. It was evil medicine and doctors who caused him to stick that needle in his arm. I have heard, in my life, as a substance abuse denial, but never to this extent. She was on a crusade to stop anyone from getting narcotics, for any reason. This entitled wealthy, well- connected woman couldn't care less about other kinds of pain. She got the government involved and harped day and night against the use of any narcotics. Never once did she admit to the possibility that her son could be an addict and chose to sneak around using when his pain & meds were gone. Her angel could not be an addict and would never had OD'd if it weren't for drugs & doctors. Who knows? He was probably smoking pot, drinking ir doing other drugs b4 he went to heroin. My mother had bonrme cancer. I have not seen pain like that. She hallucinate from it. You could give all the narcotics in the world, but she hardly ever touched them because she didn't like them. My point is, you can't make an addict( except for physically b/c of the nature if the drug) out if people who don't have the"addict gene". They will take as little if the med as they can and if it isn't chronic they'll stop them, asap. I believe that this woman had something to do with it become more difficult to get put on meds and to keep getting them. Now if you go to new pain doctor, they will make you try all the non-narcotic ways you've tried b4. Even when you tell them that it didn't work. I think she got after the AMA and regs were passed to keep people off narcotics. She probably grew her other rich and well-connected friends to put pressure on the government who put pressure on the AMA.She was in so much denial and so angry at the people who killed her son. Things started getting tougher, a little while after hearing her interviewed on NPR. How many people OD and their mothers get a half hour in-fepth interview? Very, very few. I was so angry at her inability to place the problem where it belonged, the boy. I may have been on pain medication or in between when I moved and had no doctor. I thought-"oh no, this woman is gonna cause a lot of problems for people who need meds for chronic pain" That being the case about 15 yrs ago, I gave people exorbitant amounts of narcotics, that should have been intervened. A lady with back pain was getting 1800 MG daily of morphine plus delaudid 4mg every 2 hrs for breakthrough pain. That is insane and I even called the doc to check the amount. This woman was in her late tewnties and lived in bed in a stupor. We all know that we have to push ourselves to just walk twice a week(unless we can't, but we won't make it better if we don't do what movement is prescribed from our conditions) So there is a middle-ground and right now we are going backwards towards puritanism( another word for getting to hurt &kill others who believe differently) I also have lived in liberal states and never had a problem getting pain meds. Here, now, in FL and I am always made to wait a week or more for my meds. They know that I need it everyone but have o order from pick-up date even though they have to order it. They make up excuses. Stay away from CVS & Walgreens if you live in a conservative state like FL. The gov rules with the Bible nit with constitution and couldn't give a f**k about anyone that isn't rich & powerful. They go to private doctors and don't have to deal with this bulls**t. Sorry for the rant, I've been living with this for 20yrs & if we had humane health care that was not for profit, many of us would know what the hell was causing this pain & fatigue. ❤️

Thankfully, misunderstood and rash, CDC guidelines put in place years back regarding pain med restrictions will be changed soon. And part of the new guidelines are going to require Pharmacies to fill scripts as written by doctor without question. You can Google to get more info. But it is definitely hope for the people who suffer real chronic pain. No one is treated as rudely or with judgement as one filling pain meds. While someone filling insulin & BP meds ,while weighing 300lbs, is met with urgency and compassion. (No insult to those suffering from these med cond or weight-used strictly for analogy)

@LadyD I feel ya. Don't move to FL if you don't have back stock. Ask for more than you need and keep saving it up. I wait 1-2 was every month for my meds. It's partly the s**ty pharmacies, CVS & Walgreens, thstclosed down the mom &,pops drugstores, it's partly FL law, which must state " everyone who is on controlled substances is a dopefiend & you can talk anyway you want to them". I never had such issues as I have here in FL. The irony is that almost all docs take Medicare. Where I lived in GA, I really didn't have a problem getting my meds, but very few docs took Medicare. For the chronically I'll who aren't rich the health system in the US, is a nightmare. I need to see a good internist who has the time to actually dignose me instead of what most chronically fatigued with pain get, "fibromyalgia" which it isn't b/c my pain is different & my blood tests showing clearly auto immune. Had one doc who tried but not trained in immunology, so he couldn't figure it out. He was a kind man. One of the very few, that I've met. As new symptoms arise, I just don't want to he told, again, by another doctor, we don't know & we don't care. Thanks for reading my rant. I'm 65 and have been sick near 20 yrs. I've had enough but I am really gonna be good to myself first and stop worrying about other people's feelings all of the time. I don't have to be mean but I have to stop being nicer to everyone than myself. I believe that it will help. People don't understand because when I'm out, cwhich is rare I'm upbeat & have energy. They don't see what the rest of my life is like and they really don't care either. It is rare to find someone who stick by your bad days, when you vent your anger, not at them but at how small your world has become. Enough for now. It does suck that, for some of us doctors & meds dictate where we live & that we are treated so callously.

Oh my effin Gee! YESSSSSSS! YOU GET ME! I swear! What is with the give them notice? Umm isn't it their job to inventory!!🙄😡 And being treated like a junky.....is utterly frustrating & absurd! It's terminal cancerS....how as a human AND a medical professional do they not understand?! I understand there is protocol etc. But being treated as if we are abusers is crap! We didn't choose this! My doctor grabbed the phone from her M.A. and yelled....SHE HAS LIVER METS, AND WE'RE JUST KEEPING HER COMFORTABLE! She also asked....Will you NOT fill it or you CAN'T?? Pharmacy's answer was...She REFUSES!! 300mg/48hrs Now if they experienced our pain I think they would beg to differ. I feel we get treated inhumanely.

Hey there living I know exactly what you're saying!! You must be experiencing a level of pain that 99% of the world's population will never experience. I will definitely pray for you!! Getting back to the subject, I know that I was absolutely fed up with my local pharmacies (hehmm..walg***** and CV*) Treating me like some kind of junky. I was also on the same pain meds for 2 years...same does even. The pharmacies treated me very badly kept changing the "notice" they needed..2 days...3 days...and onward. Even had 1 of them LIE to me and told me my medical insurance wouldn't cover more than 4 pills a month (I was prescribed 270 of them!!) They even went so far as to put my condition clearly on the bottle for anyone to see(is that a hppa violation?)So I do understand how you feel. I'm sure your just a regular person in need of pain relief to give you quality of life. You deserve to be treated with dignity and respect!! I finally switched all of my prescriptions to the hospital pharmacy and they treat me awesomely!! I wish you good luck in getting your prescription sorted out. Again you absolutely deserve to be treated with respect!!
