Struggling to Get Pain Meds Refilled

Does anyone else struggle to get your pain medication refilled? Due to the regulations in place because of the opiate addiction problem, I have to call and leave a message for my doctor on the day I run out/day I last got it filled, and then I have to call back—almost daily—for up to two weeks, sometimes having to get a patient liaison involved, just to get it sent to the pharmacy. Then starts the battle with the insurance company half the time. I end up having to ration my pain medicine and only take it when I’m having a really bad pain day, and I sit and suffer the rest of the time.

Find a private Compounding pharmacy, perhaps. I've been going to mine since Oct 2019 and it's been awesome. None of the bs I was having at Walgreens.

You need to find a private pharmacy. Walgreens started giving me hell everytime I went in to refill my oxycodone. After being a loyal Walgreens customer for over 20 years. So now I go to a pharmacy who guarantees they will fill your opiods. But they don't do insurance for it anymore. I get it. One less thing the gov can jump on and ruin for us responsible patients.

I always have issues getting my pain meds around the holidays. Which makes my holidays suck. I have done this dance since I was 15 (I'm 43) , I call the day before it's due & then the next day but I have to do it before noon (it's like they don't want to work after lunch). If my refill date is on a weekend I have to start on Wednesday because they put the answering machine on Friday (even though their website says they are open on Friday). I think I need mine increased but I'm not sure how to go about talking to my doctor.
