I have had anxiety since the age of 16 when I attempted suicide by taking half a bottle of super strength Tylenol. I am now 32 years old. I would like to meet other people who experience anxiety. some questions I would like to ask are what helps you with your anxiety? For me it's praying and cuddling with my dog or stuffed animal. what are some of your triggers? for me it's caffeine, and being in a large group of people. What symptoms do you experience? I get dizzy, heart races, chest pain, throat tightness. I look forward to hearing from you

I've had really bad anxiety since I was 6, my triggers are caused by having to take tests(during my days in school), large crowds, having to speak in front of a lot of people, stress, people yelling (I had very verbally abusive relatives and my dad would constantly yell at me or my siblings), getting somewhere on time, and being on the highway with semi trucks. I cope by burying myself in blankets, books, and music. I really don't like huge family get togethers because it will trigger an attack, but when my husband drags me to such events I just stay in a corner with a book.

@Lillith12 I also have panic attacks when it comes to large crowds. What kind of books do you like to read? What kind of music do you like to listen to?

I mean, yeah, but it's going to be different for everyone. For me, I will listen to techno songs like Overcharge by CRT-Head, but really it should just be something you can get lost in. For some people that's songs with lyrics they know so it's reliable and familiar, for others it's wordless so they don't have to process anything, for others it's music from their favorite game, movie, opera, etc.

@SomeWhoCallMeTim that is very true different people have different things that work for them such as for me probably gospel music would be what helps me as I relay on my Christian faith to help me through my anxiety.

I'm sorry to hear about your car accident. I also take hydroxyzine but I can only take it at night as it puts me to sleep how do you get around that factor so you can take it in the morning? What kind of books do you like to read?

I used to have mild anxiety but it has gotten much worse since I was in a car accident and hit a deer. It gets so bad to the point that I started talking to myself in my head and overthinking everything. I started taking hydroxine for that 2 pills in the morning. It works really well for me. My triggers are stress that other people can cause me stress sometimes, arguments, loud noises. I love to work on my hobbies and self care to help cope. I love going for walks, playing with my bunnies, cooking, cleaning, coloring, reading and writing. When I use my hobbies as my coping skills I am improving myself and not thinking about things too much just about what I'm doing. I deal with a lot of stress at home. I pay all the bills do all the grocery shopping most of the cooking and still find time for myself.

Music can have a very big impact on my mood, so when I start to have an attack, I try to listen/sing to music. My triggers are a lot of little "road bumps" all at once, I get overwhelmed when there's too much issues to deal with.

@Brandy2022 Radioactive, walk on water, and a lot of songs from Linkin Park because Chester Bennington has a lot of songs about mental health that can relate to a lot of people

Hello! My main anxiety symptoms are dizziness and shortness of breath. My main trigger is being by myself. I am always afraid of having a panic attack when I’m alone, that I get myself worked up and eventually cause myself to have one. I find distraction the best way to calm my anxiety, or talking with a loved one.

@Cheesecake1178 thank you for responding. What kind of things do you do to distract yourself?
