The Struggle of Watching a Movie About Autism Without a Diagnosis

This is not really a question and more of just a vent but,, Watching a movie about an autistic person with allistic parents when you don’t have a concrete autism diagnosis/they don’t know doctors have told you you might be autistic is it’s own kind of hell tbh. They ask about things they see and I know they just want validation and aren’t actually asking me for the right answer but I can’t stop myself from letting them know what those things look more like irl. It’s difficult to not just teach them everything I know because if I do they’ll wonder why I’ve looked so much into it. Then when they praise or gawk at certain autistic traits you have to hold back from being like “I do that” and finally, when they scoff at the people who bully and misunderstand the autistic character but don’t realize that they do the same thing themselves is just. ugh. I’m tired. I wish getting a diagnosis was easier. Maybe then they wouldn’t treat me like a freak.
