Struggling with Autism and Socializing

Sometimes I really wish I wasn’t autistic its like I thought other people would finally understand once I got my diagnosis but despite how long its been no one understands me. I have friends but I constantly feel like I am gonna mess something up and lose them again. I just want to be able to experience stuff without autism getting in the way and making everything so hard

Same situation here, I’m happy to talk to you whenever you can dm me. It’s actually so frightening realising I am autistic as an adult, I feel so alone in it

I hope you find other nd friends who accept you the way you are!!! they’re the best imo and the only way I got thru grade school was with other undiagnosed autistics & adhd and other mentally ill and queer lads, I promise there are wonderful people who won’t make you feel like your communication style is your fault

:( I totally get you – went through a period of my life with no friends and I was the most miserable I think I’ve ever been. the shittiest thing about autism imo is that there comes a point where you have to choose between taking on the added strain of masking and being a well-adjusted, socially accepted individual with a fulfilling social life. personally the latter is so important to me that I prioritise it over pretty much anything (probs not healthy lol!)

God, I so get that. I'm so sorry.
