My sister doesn't believe I'm autistic

I just told my sister I’m autistic and she acted so disgusted and like she didn’t believe me she said “you can be weird without being autistic you know” I feel so shitty now. And almost like I’m faking it

There are people in my life who accuse me of faking or being psychiatrically unstable when I say I have autism or talk about. It is incredibly difficult and it's easy to feel like ur faking. Worse for me is when I'm trying to manage an issue directly related to autism my friends and family don't understand just how very difficult and different that thing is for me then it would be for them. I feel like nobody understands or sees me. But I have felt what you describe hear too. I was diagnosed in May 2022 and Im 29, so I'm still learning. I didn't know a thing about autism before I went through the diagnosis process. So I'm neither experienced nor educated about it enough to give good advice. Just remember, if it happens behind closed doors, ur not faking. So if if you have an interaction or situation that invalidates you and makes you think ur faking, remind yourself of all the ways it still affects you even when ur all alone. I'm so sorry you are struggling with this, it's really hard for me when I have these moments too. Sending peace and validation your way. Oh, and also- people who are not autistic don't sit around worrying about whether they are autistic. You have a doctor's diagnosis. Rest easy and try to do something that brings you joy. Happy stim, comfy stim! ☺️
