Hi I’m new here. I was diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy almost 7 years ago after 2 grand mal seizures. I’ve been on Keppra since then and have been completely under control until about a month ago. I started having auras early in the morning. Anyone else experienced this? Feeling alone.

They always put you on keppra first, I have a cavernous malformation in my right temporal lobe. Giving me both grand mal and absent seizures. If there's any questions you have I'm more than willing to answer

Do you have a rescue med like Ativan or Valium? You should talk to your neuro abt having something on hand if you get an aura for preventing a seizure. Best of luck!!

Thank you for the advice. Seems like even though I’ve had this almost 7 years I’m still learning. I find that after my auras my alprazolam helps a lot with the anxiety from it!

I’m hoping that’s what happened. They increased my dosage and it’s still happening. They’re so scary! Thank you for the ibuprofen advice; I didn’t know this! I hope you are doing well :)
@MarlissMae Fingers crossed! I always google whether or not any new over the counter medicine, supplement, prescription, or foods lower seizure threshold or interfere with my meds. You really have to be your own doctor/advocate sometimes which seriously sucks. But it’s why I like this app! Leveraging each other’s collective knowledge and experience can only help us.
I’m so sorry! Auras have always been scary for me. I don’t take keppra myself but I wonder if you can develop a level of tolerance to it? Also, I’ve found that taking more than one dose of ibuprofen or Tylenol consistently gives me auras, and so does any Benadryl. They all lower seizure thresholds but doctors literally never seem to know this smh

@LCM I wasn’t aware of the ibuprofen thing but I stopped taking it quite a few years ago because I knew it made my heart race before my official diagnosis.
