Living with Absence Seizures: My Experience and Advice

I started having absence seizures multiple times out of the day ever since I can remember… as I began puberty it seems like, they started to lessened. Then in 7th grade out of no where I had a full on seizure. After having the seizure I began going to see a neurologist regularly. They put me on oxtellar when I was 13 and as an 18 year old I’m still on it. I’ve had about 5-6 full on seizures in my life and recently just had one last Monday at school (lovely right?). But I can say with certainty that I have never had that absence/aura feeling nor have I ever had any type of seizure while on the Jane... I recommend trying marijuana wether it’s THC or CBD concentrated. Safely and responsibly of course.

I'd recommend trying to tell you neurologist what's been going on and that the medicine isn't slowing the progress of the seizures or helping stop them at all. They need to be able to figure out the right dosage and/or other medication combinations to help you so that they can at least slow down. My body tends to have the problem where it will get used to the medicine dosage or it won't work and I have to see the neurologist to get and EEG done so that they can see what's happening.

thanks for that I’ll mention that my next appointment. Cause it used to work really well when I was first put on it. Didn’t have a single absence. Now I get them every other two to three days and now my seizures are slowly becoming more prevalent

Serious question. How can you tell when you have absence seizure or are day dreaming? I’ve only ever known if someone sees me. Time is always slippery for me so if I feel I’ve lost time I just think I was tired/relaxed/thinking. A seizure never occurs to me.

it’s an aura feeling… it’s really hard to describe. It’s almost like feeling airy in the head and confused. Sorry I couldn’t better explain.
