I'm getting random memory and dream flashbacks from my life, nothing negative. I've just been through some major trauma. Is this normal? I can only find info about negative memory flashbacks online.

      Yeah, I get that especially around the mundane stuff in my life that loosely adjacent to the traumatic events. I tend to go over those adjacent memories a lot like my brain is holding me hostage while it's ruminating. I think, after therapy, I do it because I want a reason WHY and HOW for the trauma but of course there isn't a good answer to those. Dunno if you relate but that's how it's been for me personally. After treatment I get why I have these kind of memories stuck on repeat in my head but I still can't really turn it off sort of just have to figure out how to live with it. But I didn't get diagnosis and treatment until four years after the traumatic events! All that time not healing has made things harder.

      DID is also something I looked into but I don't feel as though I have 2 distinct personalities.

        @consciousitalics okay. Don't forget not all systems are the same or even act the same. But yes if you think you don't have it then that's okay just try and relax after the flashbacks like watch a childish show or something basically anything that will make you feel better and more grounded. ❤️🥰

          @Duckyqueen123 Thanks 😊 the flashbacks aren't scary at all, they don't make me feel any negative feelings. Just kind of weird is all

      I think you all need to talk to a therapist about DID and/or BPD but also do some research on them so you all are prepared for the therapist. Also they might hide for a bit since I brought it up if you are a system but no worries they will come back.

        @Duckyqueen123 I've been diagnosed with OCD and PTSD. It's not BPD, my late husband had that and I'm definitely not the same. It's connected to the PTSD as I only began getting these memory flashbacks after the traumatic events recently.

      It sounds like you might have DID or BPD. have you gotten to a place in your life that you feel safe?

        @Duckyqueen123 Yes, I'm finally safe and able to start relaxing

        @Duckyqueen123 Are they childhood memories?

      Thanks guys. It's a bit strange because it's not negative most of the time, and it's triggered by the tiniest things. I read it might be that I'm coming out of flight and fight mode....who knows. I know people get memories coming back but this is constant, all day long sometimes.

      I feel like this is normal, I experienced this and so does most of my friend group that has PTSD related issues. Even those without PTSD issues will experience random memory and dream flashbacks throughout their life when it's not particularly negative related. I don't know for sure though, don't take me as an authority on the matter.

      I think it might be I get that a lot as well but I'm not an expert so I don't entirely know
