Looking for people with abdominal migraines? No doctors have been able to diagnose my pain but this seems most like what I experience. Just wanting to talk to people who actually have it

Hey! I have them. I kind of had a similar experience. I started having them my freshman year of highschool and they were practically everyday. I felt terrible constantly vomiting and feeling like my stomach was going to explode and missing so much school. I lost over 30 pounds purely from vomiting and I kept going to different doctors for about 2 years and each time they would tell me they didn't know what was wrong with me and ask me if I was faking it and really just had an eating disorder. It took me 2 years to finally be diagnosed and get on medicine that actually helps me. I hope that you don't have to wait nearly as long to get diagnosed though

I was diagnosed about 10 years ago. I don't have a day that goes by where I do not experience nausea of some form but a few times a month I have an 'attack' where the nausea is unbearable and I also have sound/light sensitivity.

@Smeow this is me too. I feel some nausea basically every day but a few days a month I have one that really hits me. I don't know how to explain this even to my husband. Like right now I may not have a "migraine" but that doesn't mean I feel great either, but I just live with it. It's exhausting though, and everything makes me more tired than even a few years ago. I'm just always so tired and I think it's from managing constant symptoms.

@Illaoi oh my goodness I have never met someone who has the same symptoms! This is EXACTLY like I experience it is so exhausting. Even on the days I am not as bad it's like I'm constantly recovering or building up to one so I cannot even think straight. I wish this one no one but it is nice having someone to talk to ❤️

I was diagnosed very quickly when I was 20 and hospitalized because I had an episode so bad it burned my esophagus and I couldn't breathe 😅 I told them I'd been having problems like that since I was about 15, and they asked if I had chronic migraines and weren't surprised when I said yes, although it did throw them off when I said I've had the SAME migraine since I was 15. I got a diagnosis of cyclic vomiting syndrome/abdominal migraines and asthma and a few new medications that night

I used to get them all the time when I was younger. I still get them maybe once or twice a year but they are the absolute worst

I just got diagnosed with abdominal migraines. No pain but 2 days of vomiting every month when I get my period.

Unfortunately abdominal migraines are a differential diagnosis, so there's no way to test for it. Tests and scans can be done to eliminate diagnoses, but that's about it. If you have a history of brain migraines, that tends to indicate abdominal migraines if your GI symptoms line up with when you get migraines

It’s the same with me! I wound up seeing a gastroenterologist instead of a neurologist for a diagnosis

👋 I have them! migraines alone and anything with the stomach is hard to diagnose. And there is no test to diagnose abdominal migraines. I think it’s categorized as 5 or more severe pain bouts (in or around the belly button) you also are to it own advocate, if you think that’s what you have even if it’s draining and hard and continual keep bringing it up to doctors that that’s what it is until they listen and persue that route
