Uncomfortable Hearing Aid - Seeking Advice

I’m hard of hearing in my left ear and finally got a hearing aid. I thought I would feel so much better not struggling to hear anymore but my hearing aid is physically uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time and makes me feel fatigued. Anyone else experience this?

      I became deaf at age 1 to 3 yrs old. Had Hearing restored when was a baby. Wore hearing aids of and v one. Was in a domestic violence 2006-2007. Lots of head trauma. Considering getting hearing aids but I am on limited income so it's hard for me to get any.

      I’ve been wearing it for a bit now and think I may be happier without it? It’s an odd feeling because I felt desperate to get a hearing aid before

        @autumnsprout honestly it’s possible to go without it. The hearing aid is there for your benefit. Is it possible to turn it down? Would that help the sound? I do I know a few deaf people who would rather not have to deal with it. At the end of the end of the day it’s up to you. Whatever makes you feel the best! But it is a learning curve with hearing aids so you just have to find what works best for you. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

      Fatigue is normal! It’s called listening fatigue. Usually happens when you have hearing loss and are struggling to hear, but I have found that having a hearing aid is exhausting too. Don’t worry though you will eventually get used to hearing differently and the fatigue should lessen. You can wear your hearing aid in increments to slowly get used to it. It usually takes a few days to a few weeks for me to get used to a new hearing aid or mold.
