Hello there fellow humans! I hope you're keeping warm and as well as possible in these wintery times! I am new to this app and wanted to ask if people had any advice for getting NHS Doctors to listen to you? I've been experiencing rather intense symptoms for the last year, but no matter how many appointments I make, I keep being passed between clinics and Drs while they incorrectly listen to my problems and correct me on information I have recorded since this all has started. I know the majority of tips and tricks to help reduce pain and other symptoms at home, however that can only go so far, it would be great if anyone has some advice or information they used to overcome this issue it would be really appreciated! While you're here I also wanted to say I'm happy to lend a ear to anyone who's struggling about life and feel lost on what to do, I would consider myself a very compassionate person, so want to help pass on the knowledge I know ✨

I got lucky with my doctor, he was familiar with chronic pain conditions and helped me figure out what was wrong with me far quicker than expected. But when I moved to uni, the doctors there weren't as helpful and dismissed my (diagnosed!) condition. It definitely helped me to have every trigger, symptom, and noteworthy events in a journal to show them, as well as writing down what I wanted from that appointment each time. Try and do your own research and look at your medical records for previous tests. As frustrating as it is to essentially do their job for them, it'll help you get decent help faster. Good luck!

Hey! Nhs doctors can be awful im sorry you’re struggling to get your needs across, there’s a patient advocate scheme where you can bring in a third party to your appointment to get your point across which i’ve heard can be amazing (some people use family members too) - personally i changed gp and have had a lot less issues since but still not 100% but this could be an option for you too!
