You do whatever it takes. Like the comment above, I’m rather stoic, I have a high pain tolerance, and so most of my office visits consisted of me calmly explaining my suffering and them equally calmly giving me some bs medication or telling me that we could focus on that after I found a solution for other issues I had going on. It wasn’t until I got so angry at them that I literally started bawling screaming at them about how much pain I had been in for years and they were doing literally nothing constantly telling me I could wait that they actually realized I was serious and it wasn’t just some manifestation of my mental health that I thought was real pain. You do whatever it takes, even if that means doing the research THEY’RE supposed to do (like I did) to figure out how to get yourself authorized for specific medications. You drive them up the wall with persistence until they’re so tired of seeing you they either transfer you to another, better doctor, or they listen.

I’m having the same issue. I am a stoic person and I think a lot of people with chronic pain are. But just because I’m not screaming and crying in the doctor office doesn’t mean I’m not in pain.

It took years and many different doctors for me, because I have an "invisible illness" well multiple but it was hard to get anyone to believe me. I would say stay persistent with letting them know you're hurting. That's what helped me, they got tired of hearing my voice.
