Can depression symptoms ever go away or will I always feel little interest, have low energy and feel slightly sad forever? it's better than the lows but I would like to feel joy again.

FATIGUE AND STRESS MANAGEMENT. I can't emphasize these enough. They are paradigm shifters! š

I mostly feel light sadness these days and fatigue. But things that help are genuinely loving what you do (if possible) and doing things you are passionate about, taking care of myself, positive mantras, and trying to have fun. I spent so much time minimizing stress in my life which was huge to stop the cycling, but I was left joyless. It wasnāt until I filled my passion cup again and also started to play/have fun that I began actually feeling happy again. I still donāt have the intense euphoria of Hypomania, which I miss, and I still hate a lot of times I a little low, but finding true happiness through experiences that are meaningful to you is very rewarding. Hope that helps.

Iād like to know the same thing because I was diagnosed at 21 and Iām now 48 and the best Iāve been able to do is feel just ok. Iām never really happy, Iām stable on the meds I take though which is good. After all these years Iām finally on a regimen that works for me. I donāt experience highs anymore or super lows I just feel blah.

You will feel joy again. And youāll feel like everything you did before was worth it. You will ā¤ļø Itās weird how the brain works, sometimes. But I agree with Penguin MaMa. A therapist can help you navigate your own brain so that you remember that joy a little more often. Itās really important to seek a professional that fits your needs.
@4byfour I will talk to my therapist about shifting our sessions in that direction. Thanks for the tip.
@4byfour Thank you for your encouragement. I am seeing a therapist and it does help a lot. I have been in therapy off and on ( mainly on) for nearly 20 years. I am stable and greatful for that. I just have this haze instead of the storm and I would like the sunshine back. Hope that makes sense.
@MommaBear0314 I feel like things havenāt changed too much, 30 days later. Knowing I can manage my symptoms doesnāt really change the underlying grey I always feel. I understand the feeling that it wonāt ever go away. Youāre not alone. I try to keep people around that make me laugh a lot. Or people who like to speak heart to heart. I think that has helped immeasurably. Itās just hard to remember how to connect. Idk. You didnāt ask for advice. How has therapy been?
You could try discussing this with your therapist if you have one, but with the right treatment options & some techniques that I can show you, it could help ease the depression & sadness that you are experiencing currently.
@Penguinmama what techniques do you have for me? I'm open to trying just about anything.
