What is it?

The gallbladder is a small organ that lies below the liver in the abdomen’s right upper quadrant. It functions as a container for the bile fluids produced in the liver. The bile fluids aid the digestion process.
Cholesterolosis is characterized by the buildup of cholesteryl-esters in the gallbladder, resulting in polyps forming inside the gallbladder. Cholesteryl-esters are normally present in the bile, and the exact cause of cholesterolosis is not entirely understood. Cholesterolosis is common in adults, and some theories suggest that it is a normal part of normal aging.
