Astigmatism is a condition in which the curvature of the eye is not perfect, causing blurred distance and near vision. It is caused due to a mismatch in the curves of the cornea or the lens. Astigmatism is usually congenital and may occur along with nearsightedness or farsightedness. It may also occur after an injury, disease or surgery.
