What do I do when most of my doctors have given up on me? 4 years of chronic atypical TMD, I can’t go to college, drive, work, etc. I can’t even go out with my friends without having excruciating pain. I am not ready “to give up and learn how to just live with the pain”. I can’t accept having my life being run by my pain. I have to schedule everything around my constant pain. So much has been taken away from me. But my doctors wont try anything new. I know that we’ve tried a LOT of different meds, but I am sure there’s something out of the box they could try. I’ve been to specialists, neurology, pain management, many dental appt, pain psych, psych, therapy, etc,etc,etc. I’ve tried literally everything physically for it (Botox, pt, trigger point injections, bite splints, and so much more). Are there any chronic pain/TMD support groups in SE Michigan? I am on my last straw and nobody understands me. TIA, just had a hard few appts this week and all of my doctors are stumped

One of the replies suggests not losing hope even if one doctor has given up on you. There are other good neurologists who can and will try to help you as much as they can. The person also shared their experience of suffering for years and going through a lot of doctors until they found the one who didn't give up on them and kept trying until they succeeded. They mentioned that while they still suffer, the pain and difficulty have improved drastically.
