I have tmj (going on 3 yrs) and I went to a HIGHLY recommended neurologist. It took 3 months to get an appt and two months to work with getting meds. She made me very hopeful by telling me all the different things we can try, and that she won’t give up on me. Well the meds she tried me on didn’t work and caused mood change so my mom emailed her. She pretty much washed her hands of me and gave me a recommendation to a new neurologist. I was heartbroken that she wasted 5 months of my life just to give up after trying ONE medication. I am so lost

Why would you go to a neurologist for tmj, I go to one for other reasons.

Hey, don't lose hope. Even if one good neurologist has given up on you, it doesn't mean that there aren't other good neurologists who can and will try to help you as much as they can. I too suffered for years and went through a lot of doctors until I found the one who didn't give up on me and kept trying until we succeeded. I can't say I don't suffer at all, but the pain and difficulty have improved drastically.
