I was walking and felt a sudden onset on acute pain my hip that feels like a pinching when I try to swing my leg. it also kind of feels like the swinging motion is in two parts rather than one smooth one. could this be a subluxation? it's not like any other hip pain I've had before and I meet all the criteria for hEDS and am currently ruling out the rarer types with specialists. if it is a subluxation what should I do about it?

It could be a subluxation. When it happens to my hips, I learned online from other people with EDS (I suspect I have EDS myself, I'm definitely hypermobile) to squat, and that'll pop your hips back into place most of the time. You might have to squat a few times, and if that doesn't work I do some stretches (eg. kneeling hip flexor stretch or upward dog). If all else fails, see a chiropractor or a doctor that can deal with it, but hopefully you'll be able to deal with it on your own!
@mamauwu thank you, I managed to pop it back in by stretching the next day!

Based on the experiences shared, a subluxed hip joint can feel like needing to pop the hip but being unable to do so, or experiencing a deep thud when it pops out. If you suspect a subluxation, it's recommended to err on the side of caution and seek medical attention. You could make a general practitioner appointment and if it's too far out and you can afford to do so, go to urgent care.
