Hi! So I’ve struggled with suicidal thoughts and sh before but right now I’m doing better. My therapist told my parents that I should do DBT/group therapy. I’m just kind of annoyed bc I feel like I’m doing better and my family is focusing/worrying so much about how I’m doing. And I’m not saying that to act like a victim B/c I’m grateful that my family cares but my situation doesn’t feel so serious to me compared to how my therapist and family thinks about it. Anyways if you’ve done DBT before or know anything about it can you explain how your experience was?

I feel the same way as you. I was recommended to a bunch of dbt groups back in December by my therapist but I am still on waiting lists for them so I can’t really tell you about my experience with them. However if you ever need to talk about feeling like what you’re going through is insignificant, I’m here and I feel the same way so maybe we can help each other out a little bit!

I did a dbt group and it was horrible. The other kids in it had very different problems from me so I didn’t relate to them at all, the group leader belittled or overreacted to everything. It made my symptoms worse. I hope you have a better experience
@Student_girl dang I’m sorry that you had a bad experience. That’s one reason why I’m just afraid to do it but if my therapist forces me then I’ll try to find a group that is specific to my problems
